ANN ARBOR — As artificial intelligence floods the internet with generic content and shrinking attention spans make visibility harder than ever, two veteran Michigan business journalists are launching a boutique executive communications and thought leadership agency designed to help companies “own the conversation” in their industries.

Longtime technology journalists Mike Brennan and Matt Roush have launched an executive authority and industry visibility service aimed at helping Michigan companies strengthen their public voice through strategic storytelling, executive thought leadership, multimedia interviews, sponsored industry content, and AI-assisted editorial production.

They also are looking to provide support to public relations agencies who need experienced communications veterans on demand.

“Our goal is simple,” Brennan said. “Help agencies expand capacity, strengthen executive storytelling, and deliver higher-value content services to clients without adding full-time overhead.”

We can operate as:

  • behind-the-scenes editorial partners
  • overflow content support
  • executive interview specialists
  • strategic storytelling consultants
  • multimedia production collaborators

Brennan started MITechNews.Com in the year 2000, after a 20-year career at newspapers around the country covering business and technology. Roush formerly was technology reporter for WWJ-News Radio and edited the radio station’s technology newsletter, Great Lakes IT Report. Both have been working together for the past decade at co-anchors of MITechTV, a stream video show that interviews technology and business decision makers, including the Michigan cannabis industry.

The new venture combines decades of journalism, broadcasting, and publishing experience with modern AI-assisted content workflows to help executives, startups, manufacturers, mobility firms, cannabis companies, and technology organizations communicate more effectively with customers, investors, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.

“Many companies have deep expertise but little consistent public visibility,” Brennan said. “In today’s environment, if your company isn’t helping shape the conversation in your industry, someone else will.”

The boutique agency will focus on helping executives and organizations build credibility and visibility through:

Executive thought leadership articles
LinkedIn authority-building campaigns
Guest columns and sponsored industry commentary
Executive interviews and multimedia storytelling
AI-assisted content production workflows
Industry reports and trend analysis
Podcast and video interview production
Strategic messaging and positioning support and Webinars

Unlike traditional marketing agencies, the new venture emphasizes journalist-led storytelling, editorial credibility, and industry expertise.

The founders say the explosion of AI-generated content has created growing demand for authentic, experience-driven communication from real industry leaders.

The service will also leverage the reach and audience of MITechNews, including opportunities for sponsored thought leadership articles, guest columns, executive interviews, and industry visibility campaigns clearly separated from independent editorial coverage. MITechNews attracts on average 50,000 views a month. It’s social media reach on Facebook reaches another 50,000 or so followers. Plus it’s LinkedIn followers number almost 7000.

Brennan and Roush believe many Michigan companies — particularly in manufacturing, mobility, artificial intelligence, automation, cannabis, and startup ecosystems — remain underrepresented in national industry conversations despite possessing significant expertise and innovation.

“Michigan has extraordinary business and technology talent,” Brennan said. “But too many companies are still effectively invisible outside their immediate circles. We want to help put those companies and executives on the map.”

The agency plans to operate as a highly targeted boutique firm focused on executive visibility, strategic communications, and industry authority building rather than mass-market content production.

Initial services are now available for select Michigan companies, executives, and organizations seeking to strengthen their public profile, thought leadership presence, and multimedia visibility strategy.
