ANN ARBOR – Cohoots, the new tech hub community and co-working space in downtown Ann Arbor, Thursday announced the hiring of Alison Todak as Managing Director.
As the former program manager of the University of Michigan’s Desai Accelerator–a tech focused business program that supports new ventures at a critical stage in their development, including funding and mentorship–she brings nearly a decade of experience to the local startup scene.
“Community is at the core of making impact,” said Todak, “I am thrilled to continue growing and supporting the local community that is making a difference in the ever-evolving entrepreneurial landscape.”
With an extensive background in economic development and public policy, including working for Senator Carl Levin (MI) in the United States Senate, Todak will be responsible for recruiting new startups, building relationships with key stakeholders within the Ann Arbor and surrounding community, and laying the groundwork for the city’s new entrepreneurial hub.
Joe Malcoun, CEO of Nutshell, and Guy Suter, CEO of Trove, are the managing partners behind the Cahoots tech hub endeavor, which they self describe as a “passion project.” The 24,000 square foot. office space will be located on the south side of Huron Street, and offer flexible leases, high end amenities and co-working space to local area startups.
“We’re excited to have Alison ‘in cahoots’ with us,” said Malcoun. “Her unique background will help us in our mission to bring together a community of diverse people who share a passion for making amazing technology and building companies.”
“Our whole team is enthusiastic about Alison joining to lead the important mission at Cahoots,” said Suter. “Cahoots will not only be able to open its doors to tenants but also unveil the events space in the coming months to the public.” Anchor tenant companies, Trove, Clinc and Nutshell have already started to move into the co-working space. Cahoots is under construction at this time and is expected to be fully operational in spring 2018.
