DETROIT – The 2019 North American International Cyber Summit, has been announced for Monday, October 28, at the Cobo Center in downtown Detroit.

This year’s event will mark the eighth summit in Michigan bringing together experts from across the globe to address a variety of cybersecurity issues impacting the world of business, education, information technology, economic development, law enforcement, and personal use.

“This summit has become known as one of the top cybersecurity forums,” said DTMB Director Tricia Foster. “Combining thought-provoking keynote speakers with the opportunity to learn from peers and build lasting relationships has made this event a must attend in the cyber industry.”

Highly respected speakers from the public and private sectors will address emerging trends, new technology, and best practices. The event is open to the public and will feature information for individuals, families, educators, business professionals, law enforcement, and government officials.

The summit agenda will feature internationally recognized keynote speakers as well as experts from across the county to lead breakout sessions on a variety of industry topics.

Michigan is recognized as a national leader in cybersecurity, and the cyber summit serves as a platform for regional, national and international thought leadership.

The High School Cyber Challenge is coming back for the fourth year and the final round will take place at the Summit. First, second, and third place teams will be awarded during lunch. The Challenge tests Michigan high school students’ skill in the information technology, computer science, and cybersecurity in a two-round statewide competition. Each team is comprised of three high school students that are invited to participate in a round of exercises designed to test their knowledge of computer science and information technology.

The students that qualify to compete in round two will be awarded a voucher to complete the CompTIA Security+ Bootcamp and Certification Exam, a value of over $3,000. Students that successfully complete the exam will receive CompTIA+, a globally recognized security credential approved by the U.S. Department of Defense.
