ROYAL OAK – A dozen Russian military security agents – more commonly called the GRU – were indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller earlier this month for spearfishing attacks against the hundreds of staff members at the Democratic National Committee in 2016 is unusual in that it discloses the methods used by the National Security Agency in its battle with cyber criminals and hackers. Cybersecurity expert Richard Stiennon said the indictments were a “shot across the bow” for the Russians to warn them the NSA is watching and not to try tampering again with the U.S. election process.
The 20-page indictment also alluded to unnamed co-conspirators including Roger Stone, a long-time confidant of President Trump, and Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks.
