GRAND RAPIDS – West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum and the Institute of Packaging Professionals West Michigan Chapter will host a luncheon forum on Monday, December 12 at Kendall College for Art & Design in Grand Rapids discussing current trends and issues in packaging design and specification for local businesses and industry.

Local packaging professionals are investing in solutions to improve sustainability and circularity for local manufacturers and communities.  As solutions and client goals evolve, there are emerging opportunities for clarification and consensus around sustainable packaging alternatives such as improved paper packaging, returnable packaging, compostable and biodegradable products, investments in recycling infrastructure, and the general perception of plastic packaging.

An all-star panel of local packaging designers, engineers and educators will examine how packaging professionals are responding to corporate sustainability commitments, growing pressure to reduce single-use plastics and other emerging issues.

Speakers:

  • Travis Gibbs – Packaging Engineer – Disher
  • Camille Corr Chism – Assistant Instructor & DEI Program – Michigan State University School of Packaging, and Principal – Indigo Packaging and Consulting
  • Suzanne Fisher – Ecommerce Packaging & Sustainability Leader – Fisher Packaging LLC
