DETROIT – Women in Defense are once again offering its Horizon High School Scholarship for young women who are in their senior year of high school who plans to attend a Michigan university next fall and is interested in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  Scholarship amount is determined based on fundraising efforts.

WID established the HORIZONS-Michigan Scholarship in 2009 to encourage women to pursue careers related to the National Security and Defense interests of the United States.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Junior Horizon Award, the qualified candidate must:
• Be a female
• Be a citizen of the United States
• Be a resident of Michigan
• Be a senior high school (grade 12) currently enrolled full time
• Demonstrate achievements in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)
• Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career related to national security or defense
• Be active in school and/or the local community
• Be planning to attend an accredited Michigan university or college, either full-time or part-time
• Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0

The Application for scholarship consideration is due by midnight on March 18, 2022 and can be accessed on the WID-MI.org
