KALAMAZOO – Dokidokon 5th Anniversary Anime Convention will take place July 15-17Bat the Radisson Plaza Hotel and Suites in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This ever-growing event brought over 1500 anime enthusiasts and cosplayers together last year, even with a year off due to Covid.

This year, with several nearby and even more well-established conventions closing due to financial issues and attrition due to the past two years’ lockdowns, Doki could result in downtown Kalamazoo and neighboring local businesses seeing well over 2000 people over a single weekend.

Doki will feature some familiar mainstays such as concerts including the incomparable Harp Twins, interactive panels, as well as the Masquerade Ball (this year themed as cosplay Butlers and Maids). In addition, for those who crave competition and cooperation, the mighty Team Games make their return including the expansive Scavenger Hunt.

Looking to test your video game skills and reflexes, then you’ll want to practice hard, then sign up for one of our gaming tournaments.  For those excited about anime goods and wanting to expand their cosplaying wares, there will also be a variety of exhibitors present to satisfy shoppers looking for anime goods or searching for that unique art piece as well as a con swap in which you can bring your own merchandise for sale and trade.

With the 5th anniversary of the event, Dokidokon will have its most illustrious guest list yet. The lineup is scheduled to include: G.K. Bowes, Sarah Wiedenheft, ChiRi Girls, Heirofclouds, Sew Excited Cosplay, Shockolate Energy Cosplay, the Harp Twins, Convention Foam Fighting, The Adventure Group, and LaPetitePapillion Maid Cafe. Not to forget our guest DJs for the weeknight events: Hazmatiq, DJ 0s0 and DJ Riku Namako.

A full schedule will be available online right before the start of the event. Details on admission pricing for the three-day event and the full schedule can be found at Dokidokon.org.  Be sure to get summer’s hottest ticket for the best anime convention in southwest Michigan happening July 15-17th, 2022 and learn about the 1st annual Kokorokon in downtown St. Louis, Missouri scheduled for August.
