GRAND RAPIDS – Starting this fall, the Michigan SBDC will host a monthly segment on the M2 (squared) TechCast Internet radio show. M2 TechCast is a live news show hosted by longtime technology writers Mike Brennan and Matt Roush. Every Monday from 3 – 4 p.m. you can listen to Mike and Matt interview local experts as they discuss what’s hot in technology and business.

“You can get national news everywhere, what’s different about our show is that we focus on local news and introduce you to the people and products from Michigan,” said Mike Brennan, Founder and Co-host of M2 TechCast. “And we deliver it to you in an easy to consume way with a balance of information, advice, and laughter.”

The hour-long show is broken down into four segments and covers topics; such as, cutting-edge technology, women in technology, business news, local groups, and more. The goal is to bring this news to you in a raw format so you can decipher it first hand and determine how it applies to you at home or work.  You can listen to the show live or when it’s convenient for you.

The shows are recorded and broadcasted live each week from the PodcastDetroit.com studio in Royal Oak (MI) and are available on demand at www.podcastdetroit.com/artist/mi-tech-cast.

“We’re excited to have the Michigan SBDC join us as a content partner,” said Brennan. “They will bring more entrepreneurial and business training news to the forefront of our listeners.”

Once a month Keith Brophy, State Director of the Michigan SBDC, will host a 14-minute segment with Mike and Matt. The segment will feature a guest of the Michigan SBDC and highlight the latest Michigan-based entrepreneurial news, small business trainings, and technology resources. These shows will also be shared across the Michigan SBDC’s social media channels. Other content partners working with M2 TechCast include: Small Business Association of Michigan, Internet Advisor on WJR 760 AM, Engineering Society of Detroit, Mobile Technology Association of Michigan, MICHIPRENEUR.COM, MITECH248.COM, ITINTHED.COM, and DIGITALDIVAS3.COM.

Brennan was in the newspaper industry for 19 years and served as a business and technology writer. His last position was as Lead Technology Writer for the Detroit Free Press. While working in the newspaper industry, he also began to show his entrepreneurial interest by co-founding the Pacific Rim News Service, which employed more than 100 freelance journalists in 17 countries. In 2000, Brennan launched MITECHNEWS.COM, which was the first Web site in the state devoted to covering technology entrepreneurs and news. He also publishes two weekly e-newsletters sent to over 5,200 business and technology leaders.

MITECHNEWS.COM has become the largest and most influential Michigan digital resource for entrepreneurial and technology news, insight and community throughout the state. M2 TechCast is part of the MITECHNEWS.COM platform reaching thousands of listeners each week.

“I feel the pain of entrepreneurs and could write a book about what not to do from my own experiences,” said Brennan. “Through the outlets I’ve created I can share the advice of many experts to lessen the stress of others getting started in business.”

Since 1978, Matt has been a writer and editor in Michigan covering community, business, and technology news. In addition to being co-host of M2 TechCast, he also serves as the Director of Media Relations for Lawrence Technological University. Matt is most recognized for his years as a reporter at WWJ Newsradio 950 and Crain’s Detroit Business. While at WWJ he also published a daily e-newsletter, The Great Lakes IT Report, which covered Michigan’s high-tech industry.
