GRAND RAPIDS – West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum will again honor local organizations and professionals at The Third Annual Triple Bottom Line Bash on October 12.

As in past years, a nominating committee of past honorees and WMSBF board presidents will select finalists for a vote by the forum membership.

To assist the committee in this process, WMSBF is seeking nominees for two awards:

The 2016 West Michigan Sustainable Business of the Year Award recognizes the organization that has best modeled triple-bottom line sustainability in West Michigan, or has had the greatest impact in promoting sustainable business practices in the region. Past winners include Brewery Vivant and Organicycle. WMSBF members wishing to be considered for the award are asked to provide a 200 to 400-word summary of the organization’s sustainable business practices and accomplishments for review by the committee before August 26 at noon.

The 2016 Most Improved Sustainable Business Award recognizes organizations with new or improved sustainability programs and practices, providing an opportunity for WMSBF members or their customers to receive positive reinforcement for their emerging efforts. WMSBF members wishing to be considered for the award, or wishing to nominate a member or non-member client or partner, are asked to provide a 200 to 400-word summary of notable sustainability improvements and investments the organization has made during the past two to three years.

All WMSBF members applying will be considered for both awards.

This year’s nominating committee includes past honorees Bill Stough, Fred Keller, George Heartwell, Kris Spaulding, Renae Hesselink and Tom Newhouse, past presidents Carol Parsaca, Jennifer Wammack, Steve Teitsma and Gayle DeBruyn, and Executive Director Daniel Schoonmaker.

Other awards include the West Michigan Sustainable Business Hall of Fame Induction, the Future Hall of Fame Award, and Sustainable Business Student of the Year Award.
