ROYAL OAK – For the first time in the last 70 plus years, Lawrence Technological University is fielding a football team. The first LTU head football coach Jeff Duvendeck discusses what it is like building a college football program from the ground up.

Coach Duvendeck is focusing on recruiting high school football players who will stay at LTU for the entire four years. He recruited 55 student-athletes initially. First game is Sept. 1 versus Oakland University, another NAIA school.

The benefit that LTU sells is if his football players can’t make the pros, they’ll have a STEM-based education that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
