TROY – Walsh College?s new series, The Face of Michigan Entrepreneurship, kicks off with a luncheon featuring former race car driver Howdy Holmes, now Chelsea Milling Company president, as guest speaker on November 1 at the Troy Campus.
Holmes will describe how he left behind a race car-driving career to rev up Chelsea Milling, the family?s 100-year-old business. Holmes led a professionally managed strategic transformation of the privately held manufacturer of Jiffy baking mixes to become the market share leader in retail prepared baking mixes.
As a race car driver, Holmes won championships, was ?Rookie of the Year? at the1979 Indy 500, and competed in six Indy 500 events, compiling the best average finishing record of any Indy 500 driver who started in more than four events.
The Walsh College ?Face of Michigan Entrepreneurship? series focuses on Michigan individuals who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit who will speak about their formulas for success. They?ve built organizations with unique business models and with demonstrated, sustainable growth.
