BATTLE CREEK – Young entrepreneurs will have a chance to win $5000 in cash and prizes when they display and sell their products and services to the public and make presentations to judges at the Sixth Annual Student Business Showcase May 3 in Battle Creek.
The Showcase is open to the public and all young aspiring entrepreneurs. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kellogg Arena in downtown Battle Creek. There are special selling hours from noon to 2 p.m. It is hosted by Generation E Institute .
Michael Simmons will be the guest speaker. Simmons started his first business, Princeton WebSolutions when he was 16 years old. His business was named the top youth-run web development company in the nation in 2001. He has won three ?entrepreneur of the year? awards recognizing his achievements.
?This year we welcome new schools and communities to the Showcase. It?s going to be a great competition, and we encourage everyone to join us as we celebrate today?s successes of our future business leaders,? said Cheryl Peters, Executive Director of the Generation E Institute.
All participants in the Generation E Student Business Showcase have educator-approved, feasible business plans and operational businesses. Schools and communities are encouraged to come and bring students who are not participating this year to attend so they can learn how they can become entrepreneurs regardless of their career choice or age.
