KALAMAZOO ? More than 70 candidates have submitted resumes to become the new CEO of Southwest Michigan First.
The candidates have been screened by executive recruiting firm Jorgenson Consulting. Jorgenson Consulting specializes in the field of economic development and was retained for the project shortly after former CEO Barry Broome announced that he would be leaving to accept the CEO and President role for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
To begin the process, Jorgenson President Joan Jorgenson met with SMF Board members and staff in Kalamazoo in January. A number of leaders from the community and partner organizations were also contacted to ensure that the candidate qualifications sought are the right qualifications to meet the community?s unique needs.
To date, more than 70 professionals have been contacted and that number is expected to increase. The final candidate slate will be submitted to the search committee by February 28 with interviews to follow in March.
