DETROIT ? Joseph F. Sawasky has been appointed associate vice president for computing and information technology and chief information officer at Wayne State University.
The appointment, which was effective July 5, was announced Tuesday by Nancy S. Barrett, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
Sawasky is responsible for the university?s centrally provided computing and networking facilities and services, enterprise applications, information security and access management, and information technology support services.
He has broad IT leadership experience in higher education, healthcare and manufacturing and was previously with the University of Toledo and University of Toledo Medical Center as chief information officer and associate vice president. During nearly 22 years with UT, he served in a series of increasingly responsible positions, focusing on organizational management, project portfolio management, strategic planning, and customer satisfaction. Sawasky is a University of Toledo graduate.
