DETROIT ? David McLean, who as a consultant oversaw the building of the NextEnergy Center, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer by NextEnergy. McLean will now oversee the operations of the Center, an alternative energy and distributed electrical generation research, development and demonstration facility at Wayne State University in downtown Detroit.
McLean began his work with NextEnergy in 2003 when he was the owner and principal for David A. McLean and Associates, Inc., a multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm with expertise in energy, environment, health and safety, and business and quality systems in the workplace. As a consultant to NextEnergy, McLean not only oversaw the construction of NextEnergy Center, but also the Center?s Microgrid Power Pavilion and the alternative fuels platform facilities. He also developed operating and maintenance plans for NextEnergy Center as well as emergency response plans.
McLean was a principal and owner of his engineering consulting firm, based in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, from 1991-2005. During his time at the firm, he participated in the overall operations of the firm including the completion of ten hydrogen stations worldwide and the design of six patented hydrogen infrastructure projects.
