ROCHESTER – The Michigan Homeland Security Consortium is hosting one of the Midwest’s largest gatherings of Homeland Security focused venture capital and angel groups at Oakland University Nov. 29.

This symposium is attracting nationwide capital sources interested in funding Michigan?s high-tech companies involved in Homeland Security, defense and critical infrastructure. MIHSC aims to give investors an opportunity to learn more about Michigan?s young and growing Homeland Security industry, including an attractive collection of companies focused on technologies and products this specialized market.

The group will define Homeland Security and Michigan?s activities in the industry. Presenters and panelists will take a global view and explore ideas for MIHSC?s next steps to generate more business in Michigan. Also, there will be displays by MIHSC members who want to provide more information to investors about their individual businesses.

The Security Industrial Complex – Mark Mills, Chairman & CTO of ICx Technologies (Washington, D.C.) takes broad view of Homeland Security. He?ll explain how he helped make strategic acquisitions to build an integrated set of security technology companies.

Technology Conversion ? Jayson Pankin, new venture creation specialist at Delphi Technologies (a Delphi Corp. subsidiary), explains how automotive technologies are transferring into adjacent industries, including Homeland Security.

The Homeland Security Continuum ? Thomas Hines, President of MIHSC and CEO of SecureMatrix (Grand Rapids) outlines the wide range of categories within the Homeland Security industry. He?ll feature the select areas that Michigan should boost its investments for a diversified economy.

Michigan 21st Century Fund & Homeland Security ? Vince Nystrom of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) explains how the state is investing in Michigan-based Homeland Security businesses and organizations with related activities in the sector.

Michigan Homeland Security Resource Fund ? Keith Brophy, Chairman of MIHSC and President of NuSoft Solutions (Troy) updates the group on next steps to raise and distribute $1 million in funds and services to Michigan-based businesses.

Homeland Security Panel Discussion ? Local and national professionals tie together all topics and help brainstorm the next steps for growth within Michigan.
