LANSING – With the proposed cap on credits available under the state’s film incentive, the Film Office is looking for projects that do more for the state, under guidelines announced late Friday.

Among other criteria, the office will be looking more favorably on projects that use facilities here in the state for filming and production as well as those using more Michigan residents at higher wages.

The office will also be looking for projects that show the state in a positive light and could encourage tourism.

“With the process and guidelines now in place we expect to convene our review group and move forward with approving 2011 projects as soon as possible,” Film Office Director Carrie Jones said in an email to those in the industry.

But she also warned the criteria could change if the Legislature changes the credit law.
