ANN ARBOR MichBio, the states Life Sciences trade association, has added a resource locator to its new look web site that Executive Director Michael Witt hopes will get more Michigan companies buying from each other.

The resource locator uses an intelligent search engine that lets users find both companies and resources. The new element has been in beta tests and just went live a week ago.

The primary function is to get Michigan companies to buy from other Michigan companies, Witt said. Weve found examples of companies going outside the state or off shore to buy products and services. Its another way for service providers to make their skill sets known to potential buyers.

The resource locator is a joint project of MichBio and the Michigan University Commercialization Initiative, which works to enhance the commercialization prospects of inventions. But now the resource locator is harnessed to the MichBio web site and the groups membership data, making it an even greater potential resource to showcase Michigans IT portfolio.
