LANSING – “Hung,” the HBO television series, will continue to shoot in suburban Detroit and has been awarded a $1.06 million grant from the state under its revised film incentive program, the Film Office announced Tuesday. The grant was based on $2.65 million in projected in-state expenditures.

“Over the past three years, we have developed a strong relationship with the production team of ‘Hung’ and HBO and we are thrilled that they will be staying here in Michigan for the show’s third season,” said Film Office Director Carrie Jones. “Television series like this help to provide our crew base with more long-term work while showcasing Michigan locations to a national audience – both critical factors when looking at bringing the best projects possible to our state.”

Governor Rick Snyder has halted the film tax credit program as the Legislature considers his proposal to replace the 42 percent refundable credit toward the Michigan Business Tax with a fixed pot of money, triggering protest from those in the industry who say the credit has put Michigan on the map for the entertainment world.

“Hung” is the third grant approved under the revised policy. Last week, the feature film “Five Year Engagement” and post-production work for the film “Spy Kids 4” were approved for incentives totaling $7,068,264 on $17,044,056 in approved production expenditures.
