LANSING ? Gov.-elect Rick Snyder continues to build his staff so that he can hit the ground running on Jan. 1 when he is sworn into office by naming Thursday a couple of political operatives to help him sell his transform Michigan agenda.
Terri Reid, Republican Party political director, will serve as External Affairs Director. Greg Andrews, who previously served as Snyder’s northern Michigan field representative during the campaign, will represent the governor in northern Michigan.
“I’m proud of the team of supporters we built during the campaign, and it’s going to be Terri’s job to keep people engaged and working toward the reinvention of Michigan,” Snyder said in a press release. “I’ve also asked Terri to focus on improving customer service and making government more responsive. When people contact my office with ideas about how to reform government, I want to make sure their ideas are heard.”
Reid previously worked for Congressman Mike Rogers while he served in both the U.S. House and State Senate. Reid will oversee the appointments office, constituent services and the northern Michigan office. The governor appoints members to more than 215 boards and commissions in the state.
Andrews previously built relationships with local leaders in 37 counties of northern Michigan during the election campaign ? relationships Snyder will rely on to stay in touch with the concerns of residents across rural Michigan.
“Greg’s number one priority is to end the disconnect between Lansing and northern Michigan,” Snyder said. “He will have a direct line to the governor?s office.”
Andrews is from Petoskey but is in the process of moving to Marquette.
