ANN ARBOR ? The deadline for entrepreneurs seeking to pitch their companies in front of hundreds of potential investors at this June?s Michigan Growth Capital Symposium is Wednesday March 30. Thirty-two start ups will be selected.

Once submitted, a team of experts score the executive summaries and choose a group of presenting companies that typically hail from information technology, life sciences, alternative energy and nanotechnology. Each selected company will be awarded an opportunity to deliver a 10-minute pitch June 15-16..

“In many respects, MGCS is the best event I’ve ever been to,” said Richard Zminski, president of Nano Engineered Materials Inc., a 2004 MGCS presenting company. “Almost every one of my conversations led to a referral or key contact of some kind – even when I was trying to rest.”

Now in its 24th year, MGCS has become the grand daddy of Midwest events where financiers meet the best of the Midwest in new business and emerging technologies. Since the first MGCS, more than $770 million in capital has been raised by MGCS presenting firms.

The 2005 MGCS is hosted by the Center for Venture Capital and Private Equity Finance at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Fundable companies with plans to close their next round within 12 months should submit a maximum four-page executive summary for an opportunity to be included in one of 32 presenting slots.
