ANN ARBOR ? Michigan serial entrepreneur Jeff Sloan will serve as master of ceremonies at this year?s Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship ? a gathering of some of the state?s top entrepreneurial groups. Premier sponsor is Butzel Long.
Sloan is co-founder of Digital Detroit and Sloan Ventures. He also is co host of a nationally syndicated radio show, called Startup Nation heard each week on News Talk WJR 760 AM.
The ACE event was started in January 2001 as a joint effort between the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Great Lakes and the New Enterprise Forum of Ann Arbor. In the past five years, the event has grown to include Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest, Ann Arbor IT Zone, Eastern Michigan University’s Center for Entrepreneurship, University of Michigan’s Samuel Zell and Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center and the Small Business Association of Michigan.
“Michigan has several entrepreneurial groups that focus on the support of entrepreneurs and the development of new business”, said Barbara Shoffner, president of Ann Arbor New Enterprise Forum “The ACE event provides an opportunity for all participants of Michigan’s entrepreneurial community to increase their knowledge and expand connections with key people.”
Registration and networking will start at 5 p.m. The program begins at 5:45 p.m. and will include entrepreneur pitches to an investor panel as well as showcase presenter, Dwight D. Carlson, CEO of Coherix Corporation. In addition, the meeting will feature a taped broadcast from MIT in Cambridge, Mass. titled “Venture Capital Update: Forecasting the Markets for 2005.
