ANN ARBOR ? Ann Arbor Angels have created an investment group lead by a group of experienced angel investors that have been dubbed the A2A ArchAngels. Ann Arbor Angels President Michael Cole said the ArchAngels have been meeting monthly since October 2010 and are actively reviewing and investing in new opportunities.

Ann Arbor Angels also is engaging the University of Michigan TechTransfer Office on how best to continue its successful company presentation meetings. Currently under review is the opportunity to transform these historically successful company presentation meetings into the Michigan Angel Investor Forum. Ann Arbor Angels would participate in the Michigan Angel Investor Forum, but would not manage the events.

Angel investors are high net worth individuals who typically ?syndicate? deals with other investors. The typical angel investment is from $250,000 to $500,000. In exchange for the money, the angels take a seat on the company?s board and serve as both mentors and advisors. They get a return on investment when the company is sold. But only one in ten angel deals make significant returns, and up to half fail, making this a high-risk, high-reward investment.

A2A ?ArchAngel? investment group leaders include: Tom Kinnear, Walt Young, Terry Cross, David Sarns, Dallas Dort, Jeff Golata, Jeff Williams, Dave Hartmann and Cole, who serves as Managing Director.

Cole also said the Ann Arbor Angels board of directors added two new members, Terry Cross and Dave Hartmann.

Hartmann is the president of ArborBlue, a planning and product development company. He is the former President, CEO and founder of Avail Networks, a venture backed broadband equipment company.

Cross is the founder of Windward Associates, a venture consulting business. He is a past board member of Great Lakes Angels and a founding member of Michigan Venture Capital Association.
