ANN ARBOR ? Just a reminder that the Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship, a loose collection of some of the state?s entrepreneurial-focused groups, will be held January 27 at the Washtenaw Community College Morris Lawrence Building.
On hand will be the New Enterprise Forum, Ann Arbor IT Zone, EMU Center for Entrepreneurship, Michigan Small Business Technical Development Center, Small Business Administration of Michigan, MIT Enterprise Forum of the Great Lakes, Great Lakes Entrepreneurs Quest, and University of Michigan’s Samuel Zell and Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies. The ACE event is sponsored by the law firm of Butzel Long. Jeffrey Sloan, Co-founder/Co-Chair of Digital Detroit and Sloan Ventures will serve as the evening’s program moderator.
The showcase presenter will be Dwight Carlson, Chairman/CEO of Coherix Corporation, an automated imaging company utilizing Digital Holographic Imaging invented at the University of Michigan to optimize manufacturing processes in the auto, semiconductor and electronics markets.
Carlson currently serves as Chairman of ONSET, a for-profit venture capital investment company that works to foster Michigan’s entrepreneurial development growth; Chairman of EDEN, a not-for-profit organization formed to assist women struggling with eating disorders; and a member of the S.M. Wu Foundation Board of Directors.
Also on the January program are elevator pitches by several Michigan early stage entrepreneurial ventures to a panel of VCs and angel investors. The best presentation will win a one-year membership in all the ACE partnering organizations.
Registration and Networking begins at 5:00 p.m. The formal program begins at 5:45 p.m. Cost to members of all partnering organizations is $10; walk-ins, $25, students, $5.
