ANN ARBOR ? The spring Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest contest had 230 teams sign up, nearly a third more than the fall competition.

But the 230 teams about a quarter less than last spring, when 302 teams registered, said GLEQ Executive Director Diane Durance. She said a breakdown of the categories in which everyone entered as well as the geographic location in which the teams are based will be provided later this week.

Durance did point out that a couple of important training events are schedule later this month. The Ask-The-Investors Roundtable series designed to give GLEQ participants and other entrepreneurs the opportunity to ask your questions about executive summaries and business plans.

At these events, attendees will find out what venture capital and angel investors are interested in seeing. What makes a compelling and fundable plan? How should you handle weaknesses in your business plan — incomplete management team, competitive risks, etc.? A panel of venture capital and angel investors will field your questions and provide suggestions to help you build a better business plan.

The first one is scheduled for March 24 at 5 p.m. at Spark East in Ypsilanti. The second one is scheduled for March 29 at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.
