DETROIT — The second annual Michigan Sustainability Conference will be held Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Crowne Plaza Detroit, 2 Washington Boulevard.
The event, organized by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, is designed to promote meaningful engagement with business professionals surrounding the topic of sustainability.
Keynote speakers will include Joel Howrani Heeres, director of sustainability for the city of Detroit; John Bradburn, global manager of waste reduction, General Motors; Andrew Mangan, founder of the United States Business Council for Sustainable Development and CEO, Pathway21; and Erik Petrovskis, director of environmental compliance and sustainability at Meijer Inc.
Technical sessions will cover the life cycle assessment of green technologies, supply chain collaboration, STEM education, working with utilities to achieve renewable energy goals, and more.
The event is intended for sustainability professionals at businesses, environmental health and safety coordinators, environmental engineers and staff, academics and students studying sustainability related topics, and anyone interested in learning how to advance and communicate their organization’s sustainability efforts.
The registration fee of $75 includes continental breakfast, lunch, and conference materials.
