DETROIT – The median annual wage for computer and math workers is more than double that of all workers in Michigan, a news study from Spanning shows.  

Michigan employs 111,930 tech workers who earn a median annual wage of $76,980 compared with the median annual wage for all occupations in Michigan of $38,680, which means tech workers in Michigan enjoy a wage premium of twice over all occupations.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer and IT occupations is projected to grow by 11 percent over the next decade, adding more than 500,000 jobs to the economy. Researchers ranked states according to the share of employment in computer and math occupations. The report also includes the total number of jobs, wages, and wage premiums for computer and math occupations in each state.
