Winning Futures Offers Alumni Scholarships To Further Education, Career Goals

WARREN – Student Mentoring and Leadership skills development nonprofit, Winning Futures, is now accepting applications for its 2019 Scholarships granted to alumni that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to their education and career goals.

Applicants must be graduates from the Winning Futures mentoring program or Keys to College program and currently enrolled in a continuing education program. Winning Futures graduates who are high school seniors with plans to enroll in continuing education are also eligible. Individual scholarships of $5,000 and $2,500 will be awarded and those who apply will be entered to win a $500 gift card.

To be eligible, students must have participated in a Winning Futures program between 1994 and 2018, and attended select high schools in Detroit, Harper Woods, Highland Park, Warren, Sterling Heights, Madison Heights, Pontiac, St. Clair Shores, and East Pointe.

Eligible alumni can apply online at WinningFutures.org/Alumni or by calling 586-698-4387. The deadline to apply is January 10, 2019.

“Since 1994, we have helped more than 47,000 students develop the knowledge and skills they needed to see a bright future and succeed,” said Kristina Marshall, M.Ed., president and CEO. “The Alumni Scholarship is a great way to celebrate our 25 years of success while continuing to support and empower local students.”

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019, Winning Futures empowers challenged youth to succeed through structured and evidence-based in-class mentoring that is facilitated by local volunteer business professionals. Mentoring programs in the 2018-19 academic year are being held at Cass Technical High School (Detroit), Mumford High School (Detroit), Warren Mott High School (Warren), Community High School (Sterling Heights), Madison High School (Madison Heights), Harper Woods High School (Harper Woods), and Pontiac Academy of Excellence (Pontiac).
