On June 21, the FAA announcement the new drone regulations that will become effective at end of August. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles remote pilot licenses are now required. Really.
The test includes knowledge on air space that apply. Most of the test is on the regs involved with Part 107 – when can you fly? Who can fly? What are the regulations pertaining to commercial drone flights? If there is no commercial aspects to your drone flight, you do not require a drone pilot license, but you have to adhere to FAA drone standards – such as not flying above 400 feet, not flying within five miles of airports.
Right now less than 10,000 commercial operators are now flying drones for business purposes nationwide. Schaefer expects that number to quickly surpass 100,000. If you’d like to become one of these licensed drone pilots, you’re going to want to listen to this podcast.
