ROYAL OAK – Rob Ponto and Michelle Gilbert talks about Comcast’s coverage of the Rio Olympics, some 6,000 hours, or 250 days straight 24/7 of television coverage. Live feeds, on-demand, streaming media lets you follow fencing, gymnastics, and even golf. The video comes from nine TV channels owned by NBC.

You can search by sport, athlete or country. You can look up the medal count. What’s more, 45 streams of NBC sports are available. The coverage is also mobile. You can get the video you want on your smartphone, tablet, and laptop, too.

Comcast also offers text messages when your favorite event is on TV, or there is a Gold medal moment when a championship final is live.

What Comcast is doing with the Summer Olympics is testing how its customers like all these ways to view sports. If the response is good, Comcast may combine its video on demand into the sports app for future events.
