DETROIT – LIFT, the Department of Defense-supported national manufacturing innovation institute, announced it has hired Amberlee Haselhuhn, Ph.D., to its technology team as Senior Engineer.
In this role, Haselhuhn will lead the institute’s state-of-the-art materials and joining development and evaluation work, delivering innovative solutions and manufacturing processes for LIFT’s customers and ecosystem. She will also work on the Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME)-based design of materials/metal alloys and joining technologies, to optimize desirable mechanical, thermal, physical and chemical properties.
Haselhuhn holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan Technological University. She most recently served as a Senior Researcher for General Motors Company in its Global Technical Center.
“Amblerlee brings tremendous experience in computational and materials engineering to LIFT, which is core to our technology mission of connecting materials, processes and systems,” said Noel Mack, Vice President, Technology, LIFT. “We are thrilled to have her on board as an expert in her field to benefit the Department of Defense, our other federal partners and our broader industry ecosystem.”
During her career at General Motors, Haselhuhn led research and development related to the joining of advanced high strength steels, aluminum and dissimilar metal sheet, casting and extrusions for automotive body light-weighting – all in alignment with corporate strategy and safety protocols. She also developed patentable technological solutions suitable for a manufacturing environment.
