SOUTHFIELD – A California digital communications provider announced it has set up a Point of Presence at the Southfield data center of 123Net, the first PoP in Michigan for Hurricane Electric.
One of four data centers that 123Net owns and operates in Michigan, the 18,000-square-foot Southfield center offers high-capacity colocation and disaster recovery space, as well as power and data redundancy. It is fully audited under industry standards.
123Net’s network includes four metro rings and long-haul optical fiber networks that span 3,000 route miles and 50 nodes throughout the state of Michigan and its growing technology industry.
With the launch of this new PoP, customers of 123Net and others in Michigan now have access to Hurricane Electric’s global network. The company is present at 153 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports. Additionally, companies within in the data center can also connect to Hurricane’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through Ethernet connections of up to 100 gigabits per second.

In addition to its global network, Hurricane Electric owns and operates two data centers in Fremont, Calif., including Fremont 2, its newest 208,000 square foot facility.
