DETROIT – WID-MI’s monthly virtual program in May will feature Marion G. Whicker is the Chief of Supply, Production and Distribution for Operation Warp Speed – to develop, manufacture and distribute COVID-19 vaccines to 300 million Americans on an accelerated timeline.

In her Operation Warp Speed role, Whicker oversees and coordinates efforts to expand and ramp up manufacturing, ensures the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies and leverages new and existing partnership to assist in vaccine delivery. From its inception, Operation Warp Speed has embraced a “whole-of-America” approach to meet its goals.
Ms. Whicker was selected for the temporary position based on her 30-plus years of defense and logistics expertise.

In her permanent role, Whicker serves as the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command’s Executive Director of Integrated Logistics Support Center. In this position she oversees the readiness of the majority of Army maintenance, fielding, new equipment training, supply chain management and system readiness. Whicker has direct oversight for a major Integrated Materiel Management Center with more than 3,200 combined military and civilian employees.

She provides the senior leader logistical support to almost 500 new acquisition programs, representing 63 percent of the Army’s new programs. She also manages sustainment support for more than 10,000 major end items, ensuring operational readiness and support to the majority of the Army’s major weapon systems.
