DETROIT – Machine learning is a field of computer science that uses statistical techniques to give computer systems the ability to learn and to progressively improve performance on specific tasks. On May 14 Paul Hindelang, president of Results Systems Corp., will discuss on Machine learning at RIIS in Troy as the focus on the Mobile Monday Detroit monthly event.

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence based on the idea that systems can learn from data, identify patterns and make decisions with minimal human intervention. Some recognizable examples of machine learning applications include:

The self-driving Google car

Online recommendation offers such as those from Amazon

Fraud detection

Hindelang’s presentation will provide highlights of the last 50 years in machine learning including the early days with computers in the auto industry, the pioneering work with connected vehicles, and a look at emerging applications of voice assistance.
