GRAND RAPIDS ? Entrepreneurs will get to test their elevator pitches in a social environment with real investors in December when StartupCentral hosts its Pitch Your Business in Five Breaths cocktail party.
The workshop, in the guise of a holiday event, will give entrepreneurs real world experience of crafting a message with impact that could open the door for further conversations. The party also will celebrate StartupCentral?s first year.
Co-founder Tom Edwards said the five breath test is actually five questions entrepreneur?s need to answer if they want to create a successful start up. They include:
What is your business idea?
Who wants your product or service and why?
Why do they want it from you?
Why now?
How are you and your investors going to make money?
?It?s a dress rehearsal for button holing an investor in a real world setting,?? Edwards said. ?This is a practice session.?
But who knows, he said, there will be real investors there and if the pitch is strong enough it could lead to a business relationship.
The event is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 6 pm at the Crush Bar in the BOB, a downtown Grand Rapids night spot. The cost is $25 per person and includes Hors D’Oeurves and two beverages.
