ANN ARBOR ? One Emerging Company will win $25,000 in cash Tuesday night during the Spring Cycle Awards Ceremony for the Great Lakes Entrepreneur?s Quest, while five New Business Idea winners will get up to $2,500 each.
The ceremony starts at 7 p.m. at the MITC Building, with cocktails before and a reception to follow. But the highlight of the evening will be pitches from five of the 15 Emerging Company participants. The pitches from the five finalists ? which won?t be named until Tuesday night ? constitutes 25 percent of their final score. The Emerging Company that scores the highest, wins the $25,000.
GLEQ Executive Director Art DeMonte said he expects well over 100 people to pack the auditorium at the MITC Building, a $12 million facility that opened in the spring and became the new home of Internet2 and Merit Network.
?People who want to attend can register on-line or at the door,?? DeMonte said. ?There will be food, snacks and a cash bar. The other benefit is after the event, there will be a lot of power networking.?
