LANSING – On the final day of his trade mission to Asia, Governor Rick Snyder on Friday signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Gyeonggi Province in South Korea to help build trade between the two regions.
The agreement will allow for partnership developments between companies in Michigan and the Korean province, as well as between universities, and research and development centers.
In a statement released after the signing ceremony, Snyder said, “Michigan values the great contribution Korean-owned businesses are making to its economic recovery and want other Korean companies who are thinking about making investments to know we welcome their business.”
The agreement was cited by Snyder’s office as one of the more public highlights of Snyder’s trade mission that took him to Japan and China as well as South Korea. During the mission, Snyder met with a number of business and government officials, but the state did not announce any deals for companies to either come or expand their presence in Michigan.
