DETROIT ? PUBLIUS, a comprehensive listing of Michigan campaign information and web sites, has rolled out its 2006 Michigan general election listings, the 10th anniversary edition, just in time for the November elections.

The Publius Voter Information Center is an interactive website consisting of data supplied by Michigan?s county clerks and the Michigan Bureau of Elections.

?The focus this year has been on the Governor?s race and Prop 2 ? that?s only a fraction of what?s on the ballot,? said Project Director Vince Keenan. ?There are a lot of guides that can get you to your State Reps, but PUBLIUS gets you to your Village Presidents. Hundreds of Michigan voters send us information and links every year. PUBLIUS is truly a community effort.?

Voters can view their local sample ballot with links to campaign web sites

?The PUBLIUS mission to improve online voter education has been recognized as a national standard,? Keenan said. ?We can?t believe it?s been an entire decade but we?re proud to continue to offer this service to Michigan voters. We hope others will join us in reaching out to as many voters as possible before November 7th. The strength of our democracy rests upon our informed participation.?

Over the past 10 years television and radio broadcasters, print and online media, non-profit organizations, private businesses and government agencies including Michigan?s Secretary of State?s Office have integrated PUBLIUS functionality into their web sites to encourage non-partisan voter education.
