ANN ARBOR – The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences has opened a new office in the Seattle suburb of Bremerton, the home of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, giving NCMS even more access to advanced manufacturing technology used by the military.

“After an exhaustive search we chose Bremerton because of the vibrant development and revitalization occurring in the city,” said NCMS President and CEO Richard Pearson. “We are excited to be part of such a dynamic and growing community.”

NCMS is currently working with the Navy Region Northwest on a multiyear project and plans to expand collaboration with the Navy and other military activities in the region. NCMS also plans to work more closely with the Army and Air Force bases in the Puget Sound area as well as the dominant manufacturer, The Boeing Company.

Congressman Norm Dicks expressed great enthusiasm for the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences locating their west coast offices in Bremerton.

“Having an organization like NCMS choose to locate their offices in Bremerton is a real win for the community,?? he said. ?NCMS does very important research and technical work with the Department of Defense and the private sector. These public-private partnerships at Bangor, Puget Sound and Keyport are important to our national defense mission and I am pleased that NCMS and our local installations are partnered to enhance our manufacturing technologies and practices.”
