SOUTHFELD ? A 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the second annual Lawrence Technological University Tech Invitational Golf Outing Aug. 15. Here?s the catch: the golf outing is sold out, so the public can only attend the auction, reception and dinner at Meadowbrook Country Club in Northville.
The Tech Invitational will benefit the Campaign for Lawrence Tech: A Commitment to Our Students. Proceeds from the golf outing and the Ford Escape Hybrid auction will help support important capital, program and scholarship needs at the University.
The Ford Escape Hybrid auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an opening bid of $5,000. A limited number of dinner tickets are still available for $100, which includes admission to the auction.
The 2005 North American Truck of the Year is so hot, a long waiting list of prospective owners are lined up to buy it. The Escape Hybrid is the world’s cleanest, most fuel-efficient SUV. It travels an estimated 36 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway. Depending on conditions, drivers generally can expect to go up to 500 miles on a tank of regular unleaded fuel.
