LANSING – Gov. Jennifer Granholm attended over the weekend the annual winter meeting of the National Governors Association, where she joined with governors from other states with major manufacturing to urge President George Bush to play a greater role in helping the nation’s manufacturing companies.

Liz Boyd, Granholm’s spokesperson, said the governor would participate in a workshop on global competitiveness at the conference.

“The governor is going to push her manufacturing agenda,” Boyd said. She will join with the governors of other states with large manufacturing companies to “encourage the president to enforce trade policies that help and not hurt manufacturers and workers.”
