ANN ARBOR ? The deadline to compete in the fall Great Lakes Entrepreneur?s Quest business plan contest is looming. Teams that want to compete in either the Emerging Company or New Business Ideas tracks need to submit an application by December 15.

The Quest is structured into Fall and Spring Cycles and two distinct maturity paths. Companies with more developed businesses compete in the statewide Emerging Company path. Teams with new or less developed business ideas compete in the New Business Ideas (NBI) path in one of the GLEQ’s three regions around the state. More than $125,000 in prize money is available.

Over the Fall Cycle, both the EC and NBI teams develop and submit a five-page executive summary describing their business or business idea with the help of coaches and educational events. The top regional NBI teams are awarded at the Fall Awards Ceremony and graduate to the statewide EC path of the Spring Cycle along with the qualifying EC teams.

Anyone who lives, works or attends school in Michigan can participate in the statewide business plan competition and free training programs at no cost.

The fall awards ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 11, 2005 at 6 p.m. at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing. Prizes for the New Business Idea path will be awarded and the Spring Cycle Emerging Company teams will be named.

Deadline for fall submission in both the New Business Idea and Emerging Company paths is Noon, Wednesday, December 15. To register, learn more about eligibility requirements or submit a five-page business idea summary, click on
