The program starts at noon June 14 and runs through 6 p.m. June 15 at the Ritz-Carlton Dearborn. Best of all, it?s free.
Butzel Long will team up with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to give a comprehensive overview of China intellectual property laws and regulations, issues identified by the U.S. government related to China IP including enforcement of existing laws, high level regulatory discussions and actions between the two countries, strategies for protecting IP with regard to China (including concerns about counterfeit products even if a company does not do business in China).
Presentations will include: A keynote presentation by Jon Dudas, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO, as well presentations by senior staff of the USPTO, and other U.S. Government officials, private sector representatives, and representatives of U.S. and Chinese law firms.
?Anybody who is now active in business in China or anticipates doing business in China should attend, said Thomas Moga, a patent lawyer specializing in intellectual property and international business transactions at Butzel Long. ?The program would be a particular interest to lawyers representing companies doing business in China, corporate types where managing IP overseas might come into play, or sending work overseas.?
