Automation Alley?s 40 person trade delegation, consisting of companies from Southeast Michigan, local economic developers, media, staff and high school students, arrived in Beijing, China, the evening of Thursday, November 2, with the goal of establishing mutually beneficial trade and investment relations between Southeast Michigan and China, along with learning more about the Chinese business culture and history.

Nov. 3
On Friday, November 3, the group began the day with a welcome reception hosted by the Honorable Clark T. Randt, American Ambassador to China, U.S. Embassy ? Beijing. Randt openly discussed economic issues in China, including the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics, the focus on the environment, and the importance of protecting one?s intellectual property when doing business in China.
The group then traveled to a meeting at the Ministry of Commerce of the People?s Republic of China, where Director General He Ning commended the delegation for taking the first step in the process of exporting goods and services to China, not jobs, by having one-on-one meetings.
Nov. 4
On Saturday, November 4 our group was able to take a break and head to the Great Wall of China for an afternoon filled with great weather and a lot of hiking.
The Wall was simply breathtaking and everyone had a great time.
