ANN ARBOR – The Ann Arbor IT Zone continues its fall programming in September with two Hi-Tech Tuesday programs aimed at providing entrepreneurs with more information on alternative financing sources and the reality of becoming an entrepreneur.

The former, called Alternative Financing Sources, is co-sponsored by the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center; the latter, You Need To Be A Little Crazy, is co- sponsored with Ann Arbor Company of Friends.

Sept. 14 – “Alternative Financing Sources.” This program will provide attendees with information on how to raise money when the traditional methods — the banks and VC firms — say no. Panelists Bob Swistock, corporate financial advisor; Michael Semanco, president and COO of Hennessey Capital; and Michelle Crumm, owner and CFO of Adaptive Materials, Inc., will discuss how to raise money creatively. Swistock will share insight into his job of coming into companies to free up or raise cash. Semanco will discuss asset based lending, a lending institution that does deals that a conventional bank might not do. And Crumm will talk about working for a technology based start- up and explain how it was able to raise funds working through non-conventional sources.

Sept. 21 – “You Need To Be A Little Crazy.” Barry Moltz debunks the myths of business start-ups by telling the truth. In his presentation, the serial entrepreneur and author of “You Need to Be a Little Crazy,” will deliver irreverent, straight talk about the complex intersection of start-up business, financial health, physical well-being, spiritual wholeness and family life. Moltz will also offer insight that will vaporize isolation, encourage self-reflection and refresh the spirit of anyone who has started a business or is thinking of starting one.

Hi-Tech Tuesday programs open at 5 p.m. with networking and presentations from 5:30 p.m. through 7 p.m. Free to members of the Ann Arbor IT Zone, Hi- Tech Tuesdays cost $25 for non-members and $5 for students. All Hi-Tech Tuesday programs are located at the Ann Arbor IT Zone Launch Pad, 330 East Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor.
