ANN ARBOR Starting Aug. 9, patrons of the Ann Arbor Civic Theater can book individual tickets on-line through a new sales and reservation system donated by Online Technologies.

The system went live about three weeks ago and has been accepting season ticket sales only. But its far better than the old web site which just acted as an on-line brochure with no sales capabilities.

It is hard to say if were selling more tickets yet, said Web Master Glenn Bugala, a former board member. Weve got a few adventurous souls who have placed season ticket orders at $240. When we go live with individual performance tickets, that smaller transaction price, as well as an awareness program well be launching through our newsletter, should make on-line ticket sales pick up.

Bugala said the coolest thing about the web sites new on-line capabilities is customers will be able to see where in the seating layout theyll be. In the past, customers would place an order through a non-secure server and get a phone call from a staff member who would take their credit card information over the phone.

I think with our younger patrons who are used to doing everything on line theyll feel like finally the civic theater has been put on the Internet map, Bugala said.

Online Technology Sales Vice President Ty Myers said the Civic Theater site was donated by OTC.

“Our relationship with A2CT is a partnership that benefits our community, he said. We’re always pleased to see our customers and their communities reap the benefits from our efforts.
