ATLANTA – With security of personal information on the Internet a major concern, Poll Position wanted to know if Facebook users are comfortable with the personal information they provide on Facebook.

In a Poll Position national scientific telephone survey, 70 percent of Facebook users said they were comfortable with personal information they give out on the site, 23 percent were not, 7 percent had no opinion.

Young people were far more comfortable than older people.

In the 18-29 year old age group, 81 percent of Facebook users said they were OK with the personal information they provide on Facebook, while 19 percent are not.

Of Facebook users in the 65 and older category, just 50 percent felt comfortable with personal information provided, 27 percent did not, 23 percent had no opinion.

Women felt more comfortable than men with 74 percent of women saying it was OK, versus 63 percent of men who said they felt comfortable with the personal info they provide on Facebook.

Poll Position?s scientific telephone survey of 1,174 registered voters nationwide was conducted December 1, 2011 and has a margin of error of �3 percent. Of those, 496 told us they were Facebook users providing a margin of error of �4 percent. Poll results are weighted to be a representative sampling of all American adults.
