DETROIT – Michigan Works! Southeast is offering virtual information sessions next week to help businesses access grant opportunities through the Going PRO Talent Fund.
On the morning of August 27th and again on August 31st in the afternoon, employers will learn about the requirements and best practices for the 2022 Going PRO Talent Funds, increasing their chance of success. Award winners receive funds to hire talent and upskill current employees, with customized training solutions to meet the needs of their business. Over $3+ Million were awarded to Southeast Michigan businesses last year, resulting in 700+ new jobs and 1,300+ employees trained.
“The Going Pro Talent Fund helps create more opportunity for employers and their workers, by allowing businesses to expand and upskill their workforce,” says Shamar Herron, Executive Director of Michigan Works! Southeast. “Like many scenarios in the State, employers in our region are unable to find skilled workers, which is threatening our global economic competitiveness. The Going Pro Talent Fund is one major tool we have to help close that gap for businesses in our region and beyond”, says Herron.
Interested employers can visit www.mwse.org/going-pro to learn more and register for a virtual information session.
The competitive grant, which is now in its seventh year, provides funding for training that enhances talent, productivity and employee retention while increasing the quality and competitiveness of Michigan’s businesses. It ensures that employers have the talent they need to compete and grow nationally and globally, and that people have the in-demand skills they need for good jobs.
