ANN ARBOR – As legal cannabis sales surge nationwide, thousands of provisioning centers this month now face payment challenges.
Across the United States, cannabis retailers are reporting disruptions to debit-style payment platforms long used to help cannabis businesses reduce reliance on cash.
The shutdowns are the result of an undo interference on the part of ATM companies. These companies service as an unwarranted monitor for the card brands disrupting Point of Banking systems.
Recently major processors have been forced to shut down operations. Some of these companies have initiated complicated ACH systems that are not practical for everyday purchasing. The ACH model requires customers to provide sensitive banking information, much like the same manner consumers use to pay monthly utility bills.
Genus Credit Services has an exceptionally strong banking relationship, which allows the company to continue to offer a Point of Banking program, said Managing Partner Bill Shaw in an interview.
The program components are:
-
Rounding up to the nearest $5
-
The $3.50 transaction cost is charged to the consumers not the merchant
-
As a bonus, a small revenues-share is available to the provisioning centers
“If your company needs a POB program now, email me for deployment details,” said Shaw. “Please act quickly because of the demand. We are running out of credit card machines to process transactions for your customers.”
