BIRMINGHAM – Long-time Detroit area technology entrepreneur Tel Ganesan has expanded his Kyyba tech business into Kyyba Films. On June 3 in Birmingham, he is hosting the hometown debut of his latest film, 18 1/2 minutes that explores the missing recordings done at the Nixon White House during the Watergate Scandal that forced Nixon to resign as President of the United States.

WHAT? In celebration of Michigan production company, Kyyba Films’ hometown debut of their “18 1/2” film premiere, Cohorts Entertainment CEO Rayford Jackson and Society Columnist Chuck Bennett will host a private cocktail reception for opening night for Director/Producer Dan Mirvish, Executive Producer/Kyyba Films founder Tel K. Ganesan and Ted Raimi.
The film has screened at over 20 festivals, received 100% from Rotten Tomatoes reviewers, and has deep local roots—Detroit, MI serves not only as Kyyba Films’ home base but it is also where ’18 1/2′ stars Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi began their indie film journeys, growing up in the area, working on Sam Raimi’s ‘Evil Dead’ films. And in the realm of indie filmmaking, where creativity and resourcefulness are key, learning how to use FL Studio for sound design and music production can be an invaluable skill for aspiring filmmakers as well.

ABOUT THE FILM: “18 1/2” is a thriller/comedy film that humorously crafts its narrative into the notorious gap in Nixon’s Watergate scandal in 1974. The story revolves around a fictional White House transcriber who finds the only copy of the infamous 18½-minute gap in Nixon’s Watergate tapes, but her attempts to leak it to the press run afoul of hippies, swingers, and nefarious forces.
